Yey…. it’s August.
August has always been a month full of celebrations. To start with I have the anniversary of my facebook group Crochet A-Z , (which is the largest crochet community in Sri Lanka) on 1st of August. And then on 6th I have the shared birthday of mine and my youngest nephew’s. To top these off now we have the Granny Square day on 15th of August.
Granny square day is an event organized by Simply Crochet Magazine where crocheters all around the world get together to make one big digital blanket.
How is this possible?
Well to make your contribution, all you have to do is make a granny square or 12 or 15 or 1000 (Who’s counting anyways) and post a picture of it on instagram using the hashtag #grannysquareday2021. On 15th of August, search for the above hashtag and see the magic.
To celebrate, this year I have decided to arrange an event called #15daysofgrannysquares on my page Crochet A-Z where I will post an square each day for 15 days starting from 1st of August.
Would you like to join me?
I’ll be sharing the tutorials as well so that the followers can participate with me. I encourage you all to make your own squares too, and share them with me on our group Crochet A-Z.
There are thousands of granny square patterns on the internet and classic granny square is the easiest of them all. How can we ever forget it when it comes to granny squares, right?
So to start my 15 days I chose the classic granny square as my 1st square.
If you are a beginner and don’t know how to make one, check out the tutorial below where I explain the steps of making a classic granny.
